ok, so i want to put stripes in my hair.

YES, stripes. I have naturally black hair, and i have no idea where or what to do. Can someone tell me the process of putting hair dye in my hair without bleach? i want to do a almost white/tan color on it, but i dont want to damage it. i want the color to show too, so can anyone help?

The only way to lighten your hair more than 3 or 4 shades is to use a powder based lightener aka 'bleach'. To get your hair this light you would need to lighten it a few times and then tone out any unwanted yellow/orange that will be left.

If you don't want to pay for a professional job why don't you look into getting it done at a hairdressing school nearby?

I'm not positive but- I think the only way to lighten it is using some form of bleach.

This is a serious hair treatment and no way in **** would I have anyone but an expert do this, if you don't know what your doing you could have a real mess on your hands.....through the years I've known many a girl/woman lose their hair from over possessing or leaving a product on too long....Please, please go to a salon to have this done !!!!!!! Another thing certain colors will come out weird if you don't use the right mix for your hair color !!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry,but you HAVE to go to a salon.If you have black hair and you highlight your hair with a light color like blonde or white blonde,your results will be orange strips instead of winter blonde! When your dyeing your hair with blonde highlight kits,the color will get brassy,especially if you have darker hair! So,there is no choice but to dye your hair with bleach,(unless the dye kits have special permanent effects bleach,that could work) Or go waste money on a professional salon...My suggestion would be bleaching your hair because you don't waste lots of money to get some strips and if you know a pro in dyeing their hair,they should help you.
