i have blonde hair and i am trying to dye it to a dark redish brown. ive tried getting it professionaly done and ive tried thes stuff from the box, but i cant get it as dark as i want it. it shows as a medium brown in the front and a dark blonde in the back. is there a box die that will show up nice and dark?
Good hair dye?
I would recommend Garnier Lumia. I use the Plum Orchid and my hair actually starts off a dark reddish purple and then eventually fades to dark/medium reddish brown. Also check with some local beauty supply stores, they can probably point you in the right direction!
Just keep in mind, reds do fade faster then other colors so you might end up coloring your hair more often. Also, make sure to use a color safe shampoo.
good luck!

No, and trust me you don't want to keep dying your hair over and over. You will eventually fry it and it will start breaking and then you will have bigger problems. I suggest you go to a quality salon such as Tony and Guy and get it done right. If you see a professional who knows what they're doing you should be able to get your hair the color you want the first time. If they can take a dark headed girl and strip all the color to make her blonde I have no doubt they can put color in your blonde hair to make it dark. If you've already done a few times this month, I would wait before you dye it again or you might really damage your hair. Repairing your hair can cost hundreds of dollars and believe me you don't want to go through that. take it from someone who had to spend $400 to get my hair fixed after trying to dye it blonde myself with a box dye.

I have colored my hair for years and the best and longest lasting red I've used is Redken Shades (done at a salon) and of course, use a good salon shampoo after coloring to keep your color. I know it's cheaper to do at-home coloring, but getting a gorgeous color is really worth the money it takes to visit a salon. Don't hesitate to ask the stylist questions before the service. When you book an appointment, ask for some extra time before the service to discuss what you want with the stylist.

I have been a hairstylist for over 23years. try a german product called schwarkft and color. I would reccomend to fill your hair first with a red pigment and then put on the dark brown color this allows the shaft to absorb the pigment before darkening.

I also have blonde hair and I have dyed it every color you could think of from pink to white to grey to black. You have to make sure your hair is healthy for the dye to take. For blonde hair it is so hard to get a good red tone out of it without it being to red. I would do it a dark brown first. Then add the red to it. However since you are having a problem getting the front and back to balance out only do the back until it is close to the front. But you really need to wait in between treatments. Dark colors are not AS bad as bleaches are but still they can cause damage. Good luck let us know how it turned out.

hi i would suggest loreal color experte. they have some GREAT colors to choose from, and even though they are pricey (around $17 a box or more) you ALSO get the highlites!!! i chose color 6.6 which is called cherry cordial. i am a natural red head, so that actually made my hair an auburn kinda color (dark reddish brown) but faded out as time went by. heres the web site to go to and you can even get help in choosing a color by answering a few questions about your hair type, color, length, etc.
the web site is:

also i wanted to tell you that if you DO go red, pantene has shampoo and conditioner especially made for red heads which i use and LOVE!!! if you decide to stay blonde or go brunette, they also have the shampoo and conditioners for those colors too! good luck!

I agree with Paienenne. The product is called Shades EQ. It is a long-lasting semi permanent color. That means it is not permanent, but will last just as long. The fact that it doesn't lift (lighten) your hair, means that it does not contain peroxide, and is gentler to your hair.
Going to see a professional is the best thing you can do. Hair coloring is tricky. Leave it to the pros!!!
